I took this scene a bit differently.
i don’t know why i’m making this post but
chinese food originated in san francisco in the mid-1800s and by the turn of the 20th century had moved to new york city where it did pretty well
steve rogers would’ve known about chinese food. he might not’ve actually had any, but that’s probably because he was poor not because it didn’t exist.
But he wouldn’t know General Tso’s chicken. And many other common “Chinese” dishes that were heavily influenced/created in American culture. Chop Suey, however, is something he’d have seen, but possibly not had. There are many foods common in American culture that he might not have had exposure to, but Chinese isn’t one them.

I love this picture. Everything about it. From the still bald Fury, Cap’s awesome vintage hair style, Thor’s sweet braids, the fact that Black Widow’s outfit is exactly the same (proving a point in a long argument about her outfit) and birdie hawkeye.
